NEN 3140 Sufficiently Educated Person (VOP) for maritime shipping

A sufficiently educated person is an employee who does not possess any electro technical education, but does perform work activities in which electro technical risks are present. One can think of replacing motors, fuses and residual-current devices. Furthermore people who have followed the VOP course NEN 3140 are being employed as building managers, concierges. In short: the VOP NEN 3140 course is suitable for anyone who “figuratively” gets in touch with electricity.

The following topics will be addressed during this course:

• Legislation and Norms
• Risks associated with electricity
• Management of electrical installations
• Practical regulations
• Visual inspection of the installation according to NEN 3140
• Being able to take the appropriate measurements e.g. Riso, Rsl, Rpe, ZZ-loop
• Measurement and testing of residual-current devices on application current and time
• Reporting the data.

After competing this course the participants will meet the requirements as established by the Arbowet (Labour Law) and Labour Inspection of sufficient education. At the end of this course you will be able to safely work on electrical installations.

The course VOP NEN 3140 is intended for anyone who carries out simple activities on electrical installations or wants to be designated by their employer as sufficiently educated person in the framework of NEN 3140.

As part of this course the participants receive the booklet NEN 3140 for electro technicians from Groenewegen. This course can be delivered in-company. In order to keep your knowledge and skills at the right level, we recommend to repeat this course once every 5 years.
