  • The Advanced Training for service on ships subject to the IGF Code (IGF-A) course is for masters, engineers and all personnel directly responsible for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on ships subject to the IGF Code.The regulations are detailed in STCW Convention V/3 and STCW Code A-V/3-2 and the course is in accordance with Model Course 7.14

  • Ships covered by the IGF Code

    1.Familiarity with the fuels on board these ships
    2.Operation of the propulsion plant and systems of these ships
    3.Safe execution and monitoring of all duties related to fuels on board these ships
    4.Planning and monitoring the bunkering process and storage of fuels on board these ships
    5.Taking precautionary measures to prevent pollution from the fuels on board these ships
    6.Knowledge of the legal requirements for these ships
    7.Taking precautionary measures to prevent hazards to these ships
    8.Application of health and safety precautions to these ships.
    9.Knowledge of prevention , control and operation of fire-fighting and extinguishing systems on board these ships.

  • After completing the course, the student will have knowledge of:

    1. Characteristics of low-flashpoint fuels;
    2. Physical and chemical aspects of low-flashpoint fuels;
    3. International legislation and guidelines;
    4. Safe working practices with low-flashpoint fuel equipment;
    5. Technical aspects related to low-flashpoint fueled engines;
    6. Bunkering procedures;
    7. Maintenance and checks of the low-flashpoint fuel installation;
    8. Emergency procedures;
    9. Fire prevention and fire-fighting training.
