  • Crew members on DP vessels that navigate under DP class need to follow the steps of the training scheme. After you have completed phase A by obtaining the Dynamic Positioning Induction and you have had at least 60 DP navigation days in phase B and completed all required tasks as described in your DP logbook during your sea time on board a classed DP vessel, the time has come for phase C.

    During this course Dynamic Positioning Simulator (advanced) in a small group you will start working on daily DP operations. During this course practical exercises will be carried out on our full mission bridge simulator. The course is a combination of theory and hands-on practical exercises.

    This course is part of the DP Operator training scheme of the Nautical Institute (NI). The entire course (theory, simulator scenarios, simulator and the instructors) is accredited by the Nautical Institute in London.

    During this course you refresh topics from the Dynamic Positioning Induction course. You will also on a daily basis as part of a small group carry out different DP scenarios, such as:

    • Platform supply
    • ROV support
    • Diving support
    • Survey support
    • Cable lay

     

    • The DP advanced course will be completed by an practical examination and an online exam initiated by the Nautical Institute.
  • At the end of this course:

    • you will have refreshed the theoretic basic knowledge of DP
    • you will have familiarized yourself with different DP scenarios
    • you are able to commence with phase D of the DP Operator training scheme
  • Are you looking to qualify for the Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) certificate and you meet all entry level requirements (see entry requirements) to take the next step from the training scheme.

  • Entry requirements

    The following entry level is required :

    • possess the certificate Dynamic Positioning Induction
    • minimum 60 days of DP sea time, in which all mentioned tasks from the DP logbook have been executed and signed off
    • the minimum qualification is STCW Regulation II/1 – II/2 Deck and Regulation III/1 – III/2 – III/3 Engine or a similar alternative that can be individually evaluated by the Nautical Institute
    • furthermore a solid level of the English language is required to be able to attend the course.
